You will need to first decide what you need to hook up to the generator. Most families use them for refrigerators, microwaves, cell phone chargers, portable fans, and TVs to keep track of the storm. Any generator under $750 is included in the tax free holiday.
Once you pick out a generator, consider installing carbon monoxide detectors throughout your home if you haven’t already done so.
