How to Make Sure You’re Working With a Reputable Investor
It can be tricky to differentiate a good investor from a not-so-good investor. For this reason, it is extremely important to do your research in order to find the company that will be the best fit for you and your needs. We’ve put together a list of our top three things to do in order to find an investor that is reputable and that will be a good fit for you.
- Look at their reviews
This is probably the easiest and most common way to check if the company you’re working with is trustworthy. Common places to find reviews from real people are on Google and Facebook. Make sure to take EVERY review into consideration, especially when dealing with something as big as selling your home. If a customer took the time to write out a review, the review (most likely) contains valuable information that will really help you decide if you want to work with that company or not.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you can learn a lot about a company’s philosophy on customer service through their negative reviews. If there does happen to be a negative review, did the company respond? Were they understanding and apologetic? These are questions to ask yourself when looking through negative reviews.
- Look at their social media
This is one tip that many people seem to overlook when researching a company. But, checking a company’s social media can actually reveal a lot of information about that company. To start with, social media can help you differentiate real investors from online scammers. An online scam most likely will not have any social media platforms for their company. On the other hand, real investors will. They will be actively showcasing their projects and posting content related to their company.
Another great thing that social media allows you to do is figure out the brand personality of a company. In addition to getting a good deal for your property, it’s also important that you work with someone you LIKE. This will make your selling process easier and more enjoyable. Social media gives you an inside look at what it will be like working with that investor through their pictures, videos, and captions. The best places to look for investment companies on social media are Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Meet with them in person
If you’re still unsure, after looking at reviews and social media, if a certain investor will be a good fit for you, then definitely set up an in-person meeting. Any investment company worth working with will want to make sure that you feel as comfortable as possible, so they won’t mind taking time out of their day to meet with you and answer any questions you might have. This can be a great way to get a feel for a person’s intentions and to really figure out if you can trust them to put your best interest first.
There are many investment companies out there who truly will look out for you and make sure that the sale of your house is a win-win solution that BOTH of you feel comfortable with. Always trust your gut when deciding who to work with and NEVER work with someone you don’t enjoy being around.
